Carpet & Upholstery cleaning questions

A visit to inspect your carpets/upholstery is essential. During a visit to quote, we assess numerous aspects of the job. This includes how your carpet or upholstery is constructed and what fibres it is manufactured from, access to your property and a lot of other factors. This determines what cleaning solutions we use and other things. We provide you with a written quote that will not change – so, no nasty surprises or “hidden extras” on the day of cleaning!

We also feel that you probably want to meet us before inviting us into your home to complete work. Any cleaning company that does not do this is simply not doing the job properly.

Yes. We do not charge for quotes. We provide you with a written quotation and there is no obligation to have the work done by us.

Yes, we can clean any carpet, irrespective of fibre or construction type and in both domestic and commercial settings. We will advise on the best cleaning technique during our visit to quote.

Yes. We are proud members of the National Carpet Cleaners Association. “Established in 1968, The National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA) is the only nationally recognised trade association dedicated to the cleaning, restoration and protection of carpets, hard flooring and soft furnishings.

“Member are required to abide by the Association’s Code of Practice, which covers such specifics as fair pricing, service, complaints procedures, liability and consumer protection, and is designed to ensure customer satisfaction at all times. All members are expected to provide a fair deal for their customers, summed up by the NCCA motto, “Service with integrity”.

No! We are unlikely to be the cheapest quote if you are having more than one. The reason for this is that we are professionals and do the job properly! We do not cut corners and we work to the highest possible standards, not the lowest ones. Your carpets and upholstery are a significant investment and deserve the best when it comes to cleaning. Remember, generally speaking, “you get what you pay for”.

We do ask that you move any valuable or breakable items out of rooms being cleaned. Also, any smaller furniture such as coffee tables, etc. The less furniture in the rooms being cleaned, the more efficient and effective we can be. We are happy to assist with moving heavier items where necessary and we will discuss these issues with you when we visit to quote.

Machine hire questions

We hire out Bissell carpet cleaners. This is because we have found the Bissell “Big Green” machine performs significantly better than the “leading” rental machine available in Tesco, Homebase, etc.  “Cleans better*, Dries faster than the leading rental carpet cleaner.”

* Cleaning results compared to the leading rental machine based upon measurements of colour reflectance and brightness of carpet fibres.

We deliver machines to Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton, Cullompton, Willand, Bradninch, Silverton, Wellington and numerous other towns and villages in and around Mid Devon. Please contact us to if you are in any doubt as to whether we cover your area.

Yes. The cleaners are designed so that almost anyone can use them. We will go through the operation of the cleaner when we deliver it and offer advice where appropriate.

1 litre of our carpet shampoo should enable you to clean around 3-4 “average” sized rooms. We always deliver 2 bottles of shampoo. If you use the second bottle there will be a nominal extra charge. If you don’t use it, we will simply take it away again.

NO!! We take pride in the fact that our rental machines are cleaned after every hire, unlike the retail stores. When the machine arrives with you, it is ready to go and will not be spreading dirt from other people’s carpets onto your flooring!

Our carpet cleaning machines are designed for use on carpet and should not be used on laminate flooring, etc. These machines should not be used on natural fibre oriental rugs (ie. Silk or wool), hand-loomed wool rugs, braided rugs, sisal or jute carpets. If in doubt, test a small, unobtrusive area before cleaning.

No! Boiling water would damage both the carpet cleaner and your carpets! You should always check the recommended cleaning methods for your carpets. In general, though, you can use water that is hot enough to put your hands into. We can offer advice to you when we deliver the cleaner.

No. Unfortunately, paint will damage our carpet cleaners (for which you would be liable) and they will not take the stain out. We can probably help by cleaning the carpet professionally for you but, you may need to replace your carpet.
